So I did these two separate doodles on two separate postcards at times when I was bored, and then carelessly tossed them back into my backpack. A week and a half ago I accidently set my backpack down in a puddle of water, soaking the paper and causing the two separate doodles to superimpose over each other. Pretty neat unexpected effect.

This is five individual songs performed live onto a Sony cassette-corder spontaneously over about 40 minutes. No mics were used other than the built in one on the tape recorder. Cut down, running time of this “program” is about 12 minutes. The five songs are meant to represent one larger piece, in which they all have singular roles. All songs were written over a two year span, and primarily focus on the human condition and the anxieties I have about my own existence.

Part 1 (Figuring It Out)- 0:00-2:13
Part 2 (Doubt About It)- 2:13-4:06
Part 3 (Acting On It)- 4:06-7:14
Part 4 (Prelude to Connections) 7:14-7:55
Part 5 (Connecting It) 7:55-11:55

I used the old pseudonym I’ve always used for my solo music, which (if you didn’t notice) is a blatant misspelling of my name.

“One of the first considerations was a reaction against the stretched canvas and framed or matted picture, the growing attitude of “everything happens for a reason, everything will happen inevitably anyway, therefore, there are not really any mistakes and no reason to exert unnecessary amounts of control.” This attitude has prevailed to a certain extent, but has taken off on different levels of importance and meaning.”

-Keith Haring, 1979
